    Planned Works and Unplanned Delays Are Not the Same Thing

    Almost everything on this page is planned — scheduled in advance, with a start and an end time published by National Highways. That is what makes roadworks worth checking before you set off rather than after: unlike an incident, they are known about in advance.

    Where a start or end time is shown, it is National Highways’ own stated time, not our estimate. Works can finish early or run late without the record being updated, so treat it as the plan rather than a promise.
